We are excited to share some recent highlights from one of our current projects supported by the Humanities Cultural Programme.

Breathworks is lead by Professor Derek McCormack (School of Geography and the Environment) in collaboration with Lucy Sabin (Creative Associate, Digital, Modern Art Oxford). This project partners with both Modern Art Oxford and Oxfordshire charity Kindness Wave. For full details please visit the Breathworks project page

Their first live-streamed event, Breathing Worlds, featured an engaging and thought provoking discussion on the political, personal and environmental worlds we breathe in. The event brought together Alice Sharp, Artistic Director, Invisible Dust; Patsy Isles, yoga teacher, activist, and Wellbeing Associate at Words of Colour; Derek McCormack, Professor of Cultural Geography, The University of Oxford and Lucy Sabin, Breathworks Project Lead.

Bringing together artists, activists and researchers, Breathworks second event, Spaces In/Between built on the idea of what does it mean to come together online in the current climate. Discussing individualism, collectivity and care performed through digital technology, the speakers, writer Orit Gat, design activist Maral Pourkazemi and Dr. Francesca Sobande, lecturer in digital media studies, talked us through how we might interact with each other in various digital platforms.
