Humanities and Policy
Joshua Hordernis Associate Professor of Christian Ethics in the Faculty of Theology and Religion and a Fellow of Harris Manchester College. His research interests are in two main areas, healthcare and political theology. He leads the Oxford Healthcare Values Partnershipand the Medical Humanities/Humanities and Healthcareprogrammes at TORCH. His healthcare research is inherently policy oriented and involves working in partnership with healthcare researchers, clinicians and institutions, to explore questions concerning the ethos of healthcare, with particular foci on precision medicine, healthcare professionalism and the role of compassion in healthcare organisations. In this short video he shares his thoughts on what makes for good partnerships and effective policy impact. His book, Compassion in Healthcare: Pilgrimage, Practice and Civic Life,interweaves several policy-related strands in an overall vision for the culture of healthcare.
