Treating eating: A dynamical systems theory of eating disorders.

Together with Michael Leon, Professor in Neurobiology and Behavior at the University of California, Irvine, Emily Troschianko has just published an article in Frontiers in Psychology. The paper argues for a behavioural approach to eating disorder treatment that acknowledges the complexity of psychological problems associated with disordered eating, but focuses on treating the eating itself to resolve both the mental and the physical problems most effectively.

The paper connects up with Emily's research on the effects of reading on eating disorders via a dynamical systems model of illness in which feedback effects link psychology, physiology, and behaviour.

The paper is open-access here.
