Prof Carla Rita Palmerino (Utrecht) will give a talk entitled 'The philosophy of sleep between paradoxes and thought experiments: Descartes, Gassendi, Locke and Leibniz’.
Prof Palmerino will address epistemological and metaphysical questions through the lens of an early modern debate about the Cartesian claim that the soul always thinks (also during sleep) and that thought is always conscious thought.
This event has been organized by the All Souls Seminar in Early Modern Intellectual History.
