This workshop brings together researchers who work on race, resistance and the Global South to both: a) discuss readings on oral and archival methodologies; b) and workshop the different approaches they have taken within these methodologies thus far.

Researchers working in these topics often face missing or incomplete archives. Oral methodologies might also come with their unique challenges.

We find ourselves having to create new archives or the definitive archive during our research. We grapple with the emotional responsibility of knowing that our research works to preserve the voices of the oft overlooked or understudied.

Traditional methodology classes do not consider the challenges that oral and archival methods bring in our research contexts. The current pandemic has amplified these challenges.

However, these challenges also bring out creativity and unique innovation.

Let us debate and discuss the articles on oral/archival methods in our research contexts. Let us also celebrate, teach and share the different creative processes and innovations - that we have used to overcome our challenges.
