Comics as Architecture

Comics as Architecture

Join the Oxford Comics Network for their last event of the term. Enrique Bordes (architect and museum curator) will give a talk entitled “Comics as Architecture”.

What if... comics could be conceived as architecture? The idea is not new, as Art Spiegelman or Benoit Peeters have pointed out that there is indeed "an architectural model for comics" or that comics are an "architecture of the mind". But if you live in Spain it is easier to arrive to this conclusion: Spaniards grew up reading 13, rue del Percebe, a very particular tebeo in which, week after week, a crazy community shared its daily life in a building. As an architect and comics scholar, Enrique Bordes will explore how these structures we create to tell our stories are the same that we use to build our cities, which means that we have been living our whole life between stories!

Refreshments provided, all welcome.
