Would you like to connect with academics from African institutions working on a variety of Humanities related projects this summer?

TORCH is hosting the first AfOx-TORCH Visiting Fellows during the long vacation, and would welcome the opportunity to facilitate connections between the Fellows and Oxford researchers and students with similar interests.

The AfOx-TORCH Visiting Fellows for 2019 are:

  • Dr Stephen Titus, from the Department of Music, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, hosted by Professor Dan Grimley (Music). Dr Titus will work on the project Musical Narratives on Oil Exploration, Land Degradation, (In)justice and (Dis)placement:in the Niger Delta of Nigeria. Period of stay: 29/7/2019 - 23/9/2019
  • Prof Audrey Julia Walegwa Mbogho, from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Pwani University, Kenya, hosted by Prof Mary Dalrymple and Prof John Coleman (Linguistics). Prof Mbogho will work on the project Gathering Language Data Through Crowdsourcing with a Focus on Kidawida. Period of stay: 28/06/2019-10/08/2019
  • Dr Eniola Olamide Boluwaduro, from the Department of English, Redeemer's University, Ede, Nigeria, hosted by Dr Anrew Papanikitas (Nuffield Primary Care) and Prof Joshua Hordern (Theology). Dr Boluwaduro will work on the project Advice Giving in Nigerian Doctor/Patient-Encounters. Period of stay: 1/7/2019 - 25/08/2019
