Oxford University students are warmly invited to undertake a remote micro-internship with the Heritage Partnerships Team at TORCH.
The Heritage Partnerships Team at TORCH enables ambitious and mutually beneficial partnerships that connect Oxford’s world-leading expertise with the UK and international Heritage Sector. The University's Public Affairs Directorate has recently created a global research map (https://www.research.ox.ac.uk/map). This micro-internship project will aim to add heritage-related projects to this website.
Working with the Heritage Partnerships Team at TORCH, this micro-internship will map the wide range of heritage sector collaborations currently underway - or recently concluded - at the University of Oxford. The micro-internship will provide the successful applicants with insights into how collaborative projects between academia and the heritage sector are created, maintained, and evaluated.
What you will do:
Working remotely as part of a team, you will undertake desk-based research to map the range of Oxford University's heritage-related collaborations across the world. Each team member will have a particular disciplinary focus and summary discussions will require individuals to work together to identify common themes and topics.
What you will gain:
By the end of the internship you will have gained experience of surveying the range of international collaborations underway at the University of Oxford, and insights into how research informs heritage projects, and experience of evaluating projects' online profile and presence.
You will also have the opportunity to compile a research report and discuss your findings at the end of the week with the OUHN core team.
Candidates will be considered from any subject area, from second-year undergraduate level and above.
Candidates must demonstrate good written communication skills, experience of using research material, an interest in the heritage sector (broadly defined in accordance with the Heritage Partnerships Team's commitment to interdisciplinarity) and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Week 9 (Monday 15 - Friday 19 March)
Students are required to commit to the full micro-internship - as with any professional placement - and any concerns about dates should be raised with the Internship Office in advance of making an application.
