Race and Resistance Seminar

Film screening of The Greens

The Greens is a 20-minute personal journey story about what happens when a white kid sits down in a black barbershop. They journey through time, back into the contentious memory of one of Chicago's "most notorious" housing projects, Cabrini Green, where they confront their deepest assumptions about the neighborhood, its residence, violence, and the possibility of finding common ground.

The Greens is a human story; it's meant to start conversations. The film juxtaposes news stories with personal memories and prayer to raise questions about dominant media narratives and policy changes that are reshaping urban America, from gentrification and displacement to privatization and mass incarceration.
