'"So will I ever sing praises to your name" Psalms in Contemporary Music'

Bill Goodman will be giving a seminar on '"So will I ever sing praises to your name" Psalms in Contemporary Music' as part of TORCH's The Oxford Psalms Network lecture series.

When today’s rock and worship songwriters sing the Psalms, what interpretive choices do they make?  We will listen to a few recent versions of individual psalms and consider how those choices affect our reception and understanding of the biblical texts.

Bill Goodman encourages and enables life-long learning among church leaders in the Anglican Diocese of Sheffield.  He has enjoyed working in a variety of cultural contexts, both in UK and overseas.  Yearning for You, a conversation between biblical songs and contemporary songs about desire for intimacy, is the published version of his Sheffield PhD.  He also writes regularly for the Bible Reading Fellowship and teaches biblical studies on local ministerial training courses.

All lectures will take place at 6.15pm (arrival from 6.00) in the Ursell Room, Pusey House, St Giles, Oxford, followed by a drinks’ reception.

This is a public event – all are welcome.
