The first meeting of the TORCH Network 'The Oxford Song Network: Poetry and Performance' will be held in the Knowles Room at Wadham College, from 2pm to 5pm, on Friday 6 November. The meeting will consist of a number of talks and presentations, and will offer plenty of opportunity for discussion for all participants. Further details will be circulated nearer the time, but if you're interested in attending - and possibly also speaking - please do let the conveners know at the earliest opportunity. Later that day, a social event will be held to discuss the network's future plans. In particular, a series of workshops and masterclasses designed to bring together students from Modern Languages and Music are planned for Hilary Term. The workshops will focus on the relationship between language and music in art song, and students will work on interpreting, translating, and performing songs (according to their specialism and interests). This social event will take place from 5pm to 6.30pm in the Trapp Room at Wadham College. Can you please let the conveners know in advance if you are interested in attending.
