The penultimate curiosity: the routes of curiosity

the penultimate curiosity web

The Penultimate Curiosity traces the story of curiosity throughout history — from cave painting to quantum physics. In this first of two events, join the authors, Andrew Briggs and Roger Wagner who flew to some of the crucial locations in this story, and captured them in two documentaries. Watch the first film The Routes of Curiosity and explore how the material world can relate to ultimate questions like ‘Why am I here?’

Andrew Briggs is Professor of Nanomaterials at the University of Oxford. He has over 600 publications which have been cited more than 25,000 times. His research interests focus on materials for single-molecule electronics and quantum technologies, and machine learning for measuring and tuning quantum devices.

Roger Wagner is an artist and poet who teaches at the University of Oxford in the Ruskin School of Art. He has translated and illustrated the psalms, produced several books of poetry, painted the Archbishop of Canterbury’s portrait, and has work in collections around the world.
