Tuesday 28 March 2023, 2pm

All welcome.

Speaker: John Brewer (Emeritus Professor of History of Science at Caltech)

On Tuesday 28th, John Brewer will give an informal seminar on ‘Vesuvius and its context, from local knowledge to international science’, with a focus on some of the individuals active in Naples/volcano science in the late 18th to early 19th centuries (Hamilton and Monticelli).

There will be a discussion after the talk as a way of thinking about possible future cross-disciplinary projects in this area.

Please contact David Pyle (david.pyle@earth.ox.ac.uk) for further details.
