Women’s Spaces in Sound

Portrait of a woman from the Belle Epoque

A free, public concert to accompany the Women’s Spaces, Pleasure, and Desire in the Belle Époque conference.

A celebration of women's creativity, this evening of words and music explores the fluid relationship between past and present, connected by a thread of female desire. The programme will feature compositions by Sarah Westwood, Cassandra White, Dora Bright, and Cécile Chaminade, as well as an extract from Julia Pascal’s play Blueprint Medea, which has its world premiere on the 21 May at the Finborough Theatre, London.

This event is free and open to all, but we recommend that you book via Eventbrite to ensure your place. If you prefer not to use Eventbrite, please contact the event organisers directly at rhiannon.easterbrook@humanities.ox.ac.uk.

We would like to express our gratitude to the owners of the estate of Dora Bright Knatchbull, for their kind permission to perform her music
