Amanda Harris is a Senior Research Fellow at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. She is interested in giving voice to those often excluded from conventional music histories and her research focuses on gender and intercultural musical cultures. Her doctoral thesis (2009) investigated the links between a burgeoning culture of women composers and first wave feminist movements in England, France and Germany. She is editor of three books and articles in Women’s History Review, Women and Music, Twentieth Century Music, Postcolonial Studies, Australian Historical Studies and History and Anthropology. Her monograph Representing Australian Aboriginal Music and Dance 1930-70 was published by Bloomsbury Publishing in 2020.
