Iris Julia Buehrle is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the English Faculty and a Junior Research Fellow at New College. Her research focuses on the transposition of works of literature into dance. She has published a book on the British dancer Robert Tewsley and a monograph on literary ballets from the eighteenth century to the present. For her current project, she is writing a book on ballets based on the works of William Shakespeare.
She has worked for the Munich Opera and the Paris Opera, and regularly publishes articles in their programmes and on their website. She also writes dance reviews. In 2016, she launched an initiative to discuss with dancers how they create their interpretation of their roles, a concept which she would like to develop in the future.
