Sarah Bufkin is a DPhil student in Political Theory at All Souls College, Oxford. She works on the ethics of racial subjectivation in rigid racial hierarchies like that of the United States. More broadly, she is interested in Cultural Studies, particularly the work of Stuart Hall and the Birmingham School; theories of ideology and knowledge production; and the Frankfurt School’s approach to immanent critique. She co-convenes the Critical Theory seminar at Oxford as well as an informal reading group on the Frankfurt School. Before beginning the DPhil, Sarah completed her MA at QUB - Belfast and her BA in Cultural Studies at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.
