A symposium with William Kentridge (Humanitas Visiting Professor in Contemporary Art 2013), Ivo Mesquita (Humanitas Visiting Professor in Museums, Galleries and Libraries 2013) and Estrella de Diego Otero, chaired by Shearer West on Thursday 9 May 2013 in the Grove Auditorium, Magdalen College, Oxford.
Ivo Mesquita is the Artistic Director of the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo Biennial Foundation (1980-1988), Guest Curator of the 20th São Paulo Biennial (1989), Guest Curator of the 24th São Paulo Biennial (1998), Director of the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo (1999-2000) and Chief Curator of the 28th São Paulo Biennial (2008). Between 1996 and 2007 he was Visiting Professor at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, New York and as an independent curator he has organised exhibition projects and other collaborations with several institutions in the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, and Spain. He was the Curator of the Brazilian Pavilion at the 48th Venice Biennale in 1999 and the 53rd Venice Biennale in 2009 and Co-curator of inSITE97 and inSITE2000-2001 in San Diego-Tijuana.
