The Humanities Cultural Programme is delighted to announce the launch of the Big Tent! Live Online Event series – a programme of interdisciplinary research-fuelled live events taking place as part of the TORCH Goes Digital 2020 series.

The Humanities Cultural Programme is one of the founding stones for the future Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities.

Big Tent! brings world-leading speakers and humanities researchers at the University of Oxford into conversation with one another to explore the biggest questions of our day through the lens of their academic research.

What the past can tell us about tackling disease in the present? Interested to know how the humanities can help us take on the challenges of 21st-century life? Keen to explore how the arts can shape our responses to environmental concerns, medical issues, and peace and conflict on the global stage? Then join our Big Tent! series to see the world and the challenges it faces in new ways.

Big Tent! Live Events! began in April 2020 as an online event series as part of the Humanities Cultural Programme. You can join the events live on the TORCH YouTube channel. Details of the themes and live events will be posted on our newsletter and social media channels – sign up to stay in the know and to send your questions to the researchers. Each event will also be recorded and added to the website to view at a later date.

Come into our Big Tent, open your mind, and listen to great minds at work as they discuss the big ideas that shape our present and will define our future.
